‘Tomb Raider’s’ Alicia Vikander and ‘BlackKklansman’s’ John David Washington have joined the cast of ‘Born To Be Murdered’ from the makers behind ‘Call Me By Your Name’.

‘Phantom Thread’s’ Vicky Krieps and ‘The Predator’s’ Boyd Holbrook have also joined the cast of the movie which is directed by Ferdinando Cito Filomarino from a screenplay by Kevin Rice. Luca Guadagnino will act as a producer alongside Rodrigo Teixera, Marco Morabito, Francesco Melzi and Gabriele Moratti.

The project will be set in Athens and the Epirus region of Greece, the story follows a vacationing couple (Washington and Vikander) who fall trap to a violent conspiracy with tragic consequences.

Cito Filomarino stated, “Born to Be Murdered is my take on the manhunt thriller, as inspired by so many movies and books I always admired. I have worked for years in creating its specific tone and story with the tireless support of my writer Kevin Rice, and I am honoured to have the extraordinary John David Washington join me to portray the restless and conflicted journey of such a special character. I am thrilled and to be working with the wonderful Alicia Vikander, the beautifully intense Vicky Krieps, the superb Boyd Holbrook. With this incredible cast and with my unique collaborators, Born to Be Murdered will be a fantastic experience that pushes genre to a new place.”

Production is currently underway in Greece.

Washington was last seen in Spike Lee’s ‘BlackKklansman’ and ‘Old Man and the Gun’, he has recently joined Christopher Nolan’s currently untitled next project which is due for release in 2020.

Vikander is now the face of Lara Croft in ‘Tomb Raider’, She recently appeared in the comic relief short ‘One Red Nose Day and a Wedding’. Her upcoming projects include David Lowery’s ‘Green Knight’.
