Just days after he was said to be in serious talks to helm Harry Potter spin-off/prequel Fantastic Beasts and Where to to Find Them, Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron has been attached to yet another high profile Warner Bros. project; the planned big screen prequel to The Shining called The Overlook Hotel.

According to Schmoes Know, Cuaron has been offered the exclusive right to say yes or no to the project, but what this means for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them is now unclear.

It could be that he has to choose one or the other, or that he may even helm both (if that’s the case, the J.K. Rowling penned Potter prequel will likely come first as it’s been set for a 2016 release) for the studio who are obviously very keen to give him another high profile project after the success of Gravity.

A little while ago, it was reported that Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) was in talks to write The Shining prequel, while Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island), Bradley Fischer (Zodiac) and James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man) were all attached to produce The Overlook Hotel.

Cuaron and Mazzara seem like something of a dream team, and the thought of seeing both another movie set in the Harry Potter universe AND a prequel to The Shining from him leaves us a lot to get excited over. What do you guys think about this news? Let us know in the comments section below!
