Deadline bring news that American actor and writer/director Albert Brooks has signed on to appear in Drive.

Directed by Bronson’s Nicolas Winding Refn, he’ll be joining the likes of Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston in a tale of a Hollywood stunt performer (Gosling) who discovers that a contract has been put on him following his involvement  as the getaway driver in a heist gone wrong.

Brooks (real name Albert Einstein, trivia fans!) has not been seen in front of the camera for a while, choosing instead to do voice-over work (in both The Simpsons Movie and Finding Nemo). His last most memorable role on screen was in Steven Soderburgh’s 1998’s feature Out of Sight, playing jailed businessman Richard “Rip-Rip” Ripley.

Drive to due to start filming this Autumn.
