AMC, the US network responsible for shows like Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, has found the leading lady for their upcoming adaptation of Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s ’90s comic book series Preacher.

It’s being developed by the unlikely team of Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (both of whom are big fans of the controversial comic with a cult following), and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. star Ruth Negga will play Tulip.

The series which revolves around Jesse Custer, a conflicted Preacher in a small Texas town who merges with a creature that has escaped from heaven and develops the ability to make anyone do anything he says. Along with his ex-girlfriend, Tulip, Jesse’s former and only true love — and an Irish vampire named Cassidy, the three embark on a journey to literally find God. This is the first casting addition for Preacher.

The character of Tulip is described as a volatile, action-packed, sexified force of nature, a capable, unrepentant criminal with a love of fashion and ability to construct helicopter-downing bazookas out of coffee cans and corn shine who’s not afraid to steal, kill or corn cob-stab her way out of a bad situation.

This is an interesting casting addition, and Negga has found a lot of fans thanks to her Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. role. With any luck, we’ll hear who will be playing the titular Preacher soon, so stay tuned to HeyUGuys…
