We first met the Portokalos family back in 2002 when Nia Vardalos brought My Big Fat Greek Wedding to the big screen. Its gentle tale of love in all its forms found huge favour with cinemas audiences and so, after a TV run, the Oranges are coming back to cinemas for… you guessed it, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2.
Getting personal for a moment I married into a Greek family and can attest to the patriotic and loving spirit which made the outlandish domestic maelstrom of the original so endearing. There was genuine heart in the familiar rom com clothes of the first and seeing the whole family back is a welcome thing indeed.
There’s a new video out featuring the cast talking about returning, as well as slotting in some very silly moments. Opa!
Still working in her parents’ Greek restaurant, Toula Portokalos’s daughter Paris is growing up. She is getting ready to graduate high school and Toula and Ian are experiencing marital issues. When Toula’s parents find out they were never officially married, another wedding is in the works. Can this big, fat, Greek event help to bring the family together?
