‘Abode’ is set to arrive in UK cinemas on 20 March, with distributor 606 Distribution unveiling the trailer for the thoughtful Irish ensemble drama from writer and director Liam O Mochain.

The film marks O Mochain’s fourth feature and comes to UK audiences following a successful run in Ireland and a sold-out world premiere at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2025.

Shot over three years across Ireland, ‘Abode’ weaves together five interconnected stories that explore the idea of home and what it means to different people. From city streets to countryside homes, the film examines how belonging, security and identity can take many forms.

One storyline follows Benedict, who is closing his family restaurant for the Christmas holidays when he encounters Carol, a woman sleeping outside who refuses to move on. Elsewhere, Peggy receives an unexpected visit from a former suitor, much to the frustration of her protective son. Molly prepares anxiously for a major event as her husband and children cautiously navigate the tension around her. Meanwhile, Skyler and Sam’s excitement about their new home turns uneasy after purchasing a smart oven that begins to dominate their lives. Finally, Conor and Maria attempt a quiet weekend away from their children, only to discover that their plans may not unfold as expected.

Through these parallel narratives, ‘Abode’ paints a layered portrait of modern life, revealing that the concept of “home” can be comforting, fragile, complicated or even elusive.

The film also shines a spotlight on a mix of established and emerging Irish talent. The ensemble cast includes Ryan Lincoln (Kin, Michael Inside), Sophie Vavasseur (Flora and Son, Bring It On), O Mochain himself, Marion O’Dwyer (God’s Creatures, Ballykissangel), Anthony Morris (The Watchers, Game of Thrones), and Brendan Conroy (Bodkin, That They May Face The Rising Sun).
