A-Hijacking-UK-Quad-PosterTobias Lindholm has made a name for himself in recent years as a writer on the acclaimed TV drama, Borgen, and cemented things last year writing the screenplay for Thomas Vinterberg’s The Hunt. He returned behind the camera last year to bring us A Hijacking, and after spending the past six months on the festival circuit, the film is finally due to arrive in our theatres in May.

Inspired by real events, the film is a powerful dramatic-thriller that sees the crew of a Danish ship hijacked by Somali pirates. Arrow have sent over the new UK trailer and quad poster, giving a brilliant look at what could well be one of the most memorable and chilling films of the year.

The cargo ship MV Rozen is heading for harbour when it is hijacked by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean. Amongst the men on board are the ship’s cook Mikkel (Pilou Asbæk) and the engineer Jan (Roland Møller), who along with the rest of the seamen are taken hostage in a cynical game of life and death. With the demand for a ransom of millions of dollars a psychological drama unfolds between the CEO of the shipping company (Søren Malling) and the Somali pirates.

Pilou Asbæk (Borgen) and Søren Malling (Borgen) take the lead here, starring alongside Dar Salim (Game of Thrones) and Roland Møller (R: Hit First, Hit Hardest).

Lindholm is directing from his own script once more, making his sophomore feature with A Hijacking after his 2010 debut, R: Hit First, Hit Hardest.

A Hijacking will be released here in the UK on 10th May. No word yet on a US release date. But the film will be playing later today and on Sunday at New Directors/New Films, making its New York premiere across the Atlantic.
