Due out the last weekend before Christmas, Judd Apatow’s sort-of sequel to Knocked Up is certain to be one of the comedy highlights of the year.

Starring Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann as the main (and original from Knocked Up) characters, the film also sees Jason Segel returning, along with a fantastic supporting cast including Albert Brooks, Megan Fox, Lena Dunham, Melissa McCarthy, Chris O’Dowd, Charlyne Yi, and Maude Apatow (who was also in Knocked Up) and Iris Apatow.

The first trailer has now surfaced online, via Apple, and is naturally must-watch viewing material for all of Apatow’s fans. As you can see from the plot synopsis below, things are largely still being kept under wraps, and who doesn’t like a little bit of secrecy eight months away?

“Writer/director/producer Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Funny People) brings audiences This Is 40, an original comedy that expands upon the story of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) from the blockbuster hit Knocked Up as we see firsthand how they are dealing with their current state of life.”

This Is 40 is due out on 21st December in the UK and the US, so mark that date down on your calendars. We’re still just over half a year away, but things are looking brilliant so far. For now, the first trailer for your viewing pleasure. And if you’d like to watch it in HD, you can head over to Apple here.
