The 20th edition of the Glasgow Film Festival reveals an exciting programme featuring premieres, special events and screenings of some classics.

Running from February 28th to March 10th the UK premiere of Rose Glass’ Love Lies Bleeding opens the festival.  Closing gala is Janey – a touching documentary on Scottish Comedian, Janey Godley, about her life, career and terminal cancer diagnosis.

There are no less than eleven world and international premieres including Bucky F*ing Dent from David Duchovny adapting and his own novel which he also directs. Feature debuts at the festival include Glasgow director Ciaran Lyons’ Tummy Monster  as well as The Old Man and The Land from Nicholas Parish.

The festival will feature a double dose of Ewan McGregor in UK premiere of Bleeding Love, starring alongside his daughter Clara McGregor, and also Mother.

A guarantee each GFF is great variety and this year is no different with screenings such as newly Oscar-nominated The Teachers’ Lounge and lo Capitano. Other highlights include Restore Point and Only the River Flows amongst many others.

GFF this year is one of historical numbers as it also celebrates 85 years since Cosmo Cinema opened (now the Glasgow Film Theatre) and 50 years since GFT was established. To commemorate there will be screenings for each respective year including The Wizard of Oz as well as John Waters’ Female Trouble – which also celebrates its 50th anniversary along with GFT. 

BFI restoration of Billy Connolly: Big Banana Feet will see the comedy legend return to the big screen in this documentary shot during his 1975 tour of Ireland.

FrightFest as always never fails to deliver on scares and more. It all kicks off this year with You’ll Never Find Me and other highlights include All You Need is Death and Alan Scott Neal’s directorial debut Last Straw.

The retrospective programme, Our Story So Far, will show classic titles from each anniversary in Glasgow Film’s history including Mr Smith Goes to Washington, Wuthering Heights and Young Frankenstein to name but a few.
