Batman Forever

Director Joel Schumacher is the man who very nearly sounded the death knell for the Batman franchise. While Schumacher’s first attempt at the Caped Crusader wasn’t as horrendous as its predecessor, Batman Forever nevertheless contains none of the brooding noirish quality of Burton’s preceding films (a lucrative device in the hands of Christopher Nolan) and instead comprises an overwrought camp joke (I still don’t understand why Batman’s costume has nipples).

Still the soundtrack boasts an eclectic mix including PJ Harvey’s “One Time too Many” alongside songs from Massive Attack, Nick Cave, Flaming Lips and of course Seal’s one hit wonder “Kiss From a Rose”. The same can’t be said of Batman and Robin which seems to fail in every department.
