10 Cloverfield Lane came pretty much out of nowhere, but anticipation for this follow-up of sorts of Cloverfield is at an all-time high right now. Whether it will manage to live up to both the original movie and those expectations obviously remains to be seen, but based on the new trailer below, we should definitely look forward to a very tense thriller next month!
For the most part, plot details are still a closely guarded secret, but this latest look at the movie definitely sheds at least a little more light on what to expect. So too did actress Mary Elizabeth Winstead last month when she talked about where we pick up with her character when 10 Cloverfield Lane starts. “He tells me that basically the world is over outside because there’s been a nuclear fall-out. It does have similarity to Faults, in some ways, because you don’t know who’s telling the truth or who to believe. There’s a lot of, who’s manipulating who, and all of that. Tonally, it’s very different, but it has some of those same themes.”
This trailer does a great job of showing that, and it’s tough to figure out whether John Goodman’s character is protecting this girl from the horrors which wait outside or if he’s just an apocalypse obsessed lunatic who is taking advantage of the alien attack we saw in the New York set first movie to create a twisted family of his own in his underground bunker.
The answers to those and every other question we have about 10 Cloverfield Lane won’t be revealed until it’s released next month, but for now, this trailer at least offers some hints!
