It was just after the New Year we first heard that Woody Harrelson was in talks to join the cast of the currently untitled Han Solo movie, but that has now been made 100% official.

While details about his role still haven’t been revealed (though it was previously reported that he’ll be a mentor of sorts to the young Han Solo), he will indeed be joining Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian), and Emilia Clarke in the highly anticipated spinoff which is set to be released next year (most likely in December again).

This Star Wars Story is, “the second in a series of films that live outside the Skywalker family saga, and is set during the early scoundrel days of the iconic characters, prior to A New Hope.” That’s the closest we have to an official plot synopsis as of right now as Lucasfilm is understandably keeping any story details a closely guarded secret for the time being.

“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” said the film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”

With production set to begin soon, expect more details on Han Solo to be revealed shortly!
