When I’m not sitting here in front of my computer writing articles about the movies or indeed running around after my two children, you may well find me in the Surrey hills riding my bike! Sadly this doesn’t happen too often but when it does, it’s a glorious thing! Then when Vue Cinemas told us about their Vue Cycle 100 event it’s fair to say i was slightly excited!

Vue Cinemas’ Cycle 100 2017 takes place Wednesday 5th July and is 100km (62 miles) around the Surrey Hills starting and ending at the Foxhills resort in Ottershaw and you can choose to cycle the full ride in a team or as a relay. For newbies it’s a chance to test yourself on a beautiful, yet challenging course whilst for returning teams there’s always the opportunity to beat you previous time so make sure you set your Strava!

Once you’re signed up Vue will take care of everything from providing top of the range bicycles, helmets and kit, to branded / pro team jerseys for everyone.   Just Pedal, the cycle logistics company are staging the challenge and we will host a great BBQ and drinks with presentations at The Foxhills at the end of the event.

This fabulous event is to raise money for two charities – MediCinema & West London Day Centre:-

MediCinema brings the joy of cinema to patients undergoing treatment in hospitals around the UK. They build and manage cinemas specifically designed to accommodate patients comfortably, enabling a real and immersive cinema experience.

West London Day Centre works to help people off the street, giving respite and support to rough sleepers in London.  Around 100 homeless people visit the centre every day. WLDC works with them to establish their needs and how to help them back into accommodation as quickly as possible.
