Well, it’s better than Dark of the Moon! Paramount has today revealed that the title of Transformers 5 will be Michael Bay’s Transformers: The Last Knight. Set to be released on June 23rd next year, the movie will feature the return of Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager as well as new roles for relative unknowns Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael.

Production on Transformers: The Last Knight is set to begin in Detroit on June 6th, and will then move to currently unrevealed locations around the world as a new adventure begins.

With Bay back in the director’s chair, the screenplay for the movie was written by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum and Matt Holloway along with Ken Nolan (Black Hawk Down). Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Don Murphy and Tom DeSanto will produce the sequel for Paramount.

Love them or hate them, the Transformers movies have been a resounding success, earning over $3.7 billion at the worldwide box office over the course of four movies. The Last Knight is the first instalment of the franchise released since a writers room was put together to pencil out the future of this series, so it will be interesting to see how it sets up any spinoffs!
