We are less than a month away from the release of one of the most anticipated blockbusters of this year. The long-awaited movie adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series has taken its sweet time in getting to us, but this new trailer shows that they are going firmly for big screen spectacle.

The embittered battle between Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey forms the majority of this promo, with a few dizzying CG landscape present to give us a view of the mighty scope of the project. The rabid fans of the book series have already been warned not to expect a direct adaptation of the first book in the series, entitled The Gunslinger, but rather a sequel to the events therein. 
If the film does well then we can expect many more sequels, prequels from the team. This may even be the most high profile property to expand into TV as well as film, in order to flesh out the world and tell the full story.
Alongside Elba and McConaughey are Kathryn Winnick (Vikings), Abbey Lee (The Neon Demon), Tom Taylor (Doctor Foster), and Jackie Earl Haley (Watchmen) to complete the cast.
The Dark Tower is scheduled for release on August 4th.

Movie Synopsis
There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.
