Andrew-Garfield-and-Jamie-Foxx-in-The-Amazing-Spider-Man-2Earlier tonight, Sony released a hi-res look at a brilliant triptych banner for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and now they’ve added more fuel to the fire ahead of Thursday’s trailer premiere by debuting a handful of new images.

Coming courtesy of USA Today, these five new images focus on Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker / Spider-Man going head to head with Jamie Foxx’s villainous character, Electro, with the final image teasing Spidey going up against Oscorp Industries.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

Garfield and Foxx head up another brilliant cast, with Emma Stone taking the female lead once more as Gwen Stacy, and the trio joined by Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Sally Field, Martin Sheen, Chris Cooper, Brian Haley, Colm Feore, and B.J. Novak.

Marc Webb is once more in the director’s chair, with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) and Jeff Pinkner (Fringe, Lost) writing the script, based on a previous draft by James Vanderbilt (The Amazing Spider-Man).

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set to be released in 3D on 18th April, 2014 in the UK, with its US release date following over Marvel’s favourite weekend, May 2nd. Whilst we await the first trailer, here are the new images, which you can click through to enlarge. And if that isn’t enough, then take a look at the early trailer previews to whet your appetite further.
