Hellboy

The first two Hellboy movies weren’t huge hits at the box office, but the Guillermo del Toro helmed adaptations of the popular Mike Mignola comic books turned a small profit for Fox. Since being released, they’ve gained a cult following of sorts, and the demand for a third movie continues to this day.

However, despite not being flops as such, the numbers were nowhere near high enough for the studio to commit to another instalment, and as the first earned only million on a million budget, it’s a miracle that Hellboy II ever happened (though it made 0 million on an million budget).

In the interview below, star Ron Perlman reiterates his desire to make a third movie a reality and confirms that del Toro does at least have an idea in mind. If Riddick can get a green light, why not Hellboy 3? You can see the Pacific Rim star’s full interview with Red Carpet News by clicking here.

“I’d like to finish it. I’d like for there to be a third film because the first two films were set up for this huge resolve and he (Guillermo Del Toro) already understands what that resolve will look like. He never gave me the nuts and bolts of it, but he gave me a rather broad strokes sketch of what the third film would look like and it’s so epic and so deserved by the fans that hung in there for the first two that I really feel as though it’s essential that we make it. So I fight for it every day. Sometimes I’m the only voice and sometimes there are others, but I’m never going to stop trying to get Hellboy 3 made!”
