The Steve Jobs biopic has had a rough journey in its bid to reach the big screen. Written by Aaron Sorkin, David Fincher looked set to reunite with his The Social Network scribe before deciding not to direct.

It was then that Danny Boyle decided to helm the movie, but both Leonardo DiCaprio and Christian Bale are among the male leads to have dropped out. As of right now though, Michael Fassbender will play Steve Jobs.

Just as it appeared to all be falling into place, the biopic jumped from Sony to Universal, and somehow lost Natalie Portman as its leading lady. That leads us to now, with a new report revealing that Kate Winslet has entered talks to join the project. The Oscar-winning actress will next be seen in Divergent sequel Insurgent.

It’s not clear who Winslet will play as of right now, but she’ll potentially join Michael Fassbender as Steve Jobs, Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Jeff Daniels as former Apple CEO John Sculley.

Previous reports have indicated that the movie’s lead female role is for Mac marketing chief Joanna Hoffman.

The movie is based on Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs, and Sorkin has previously revealed that the movie will be broken up into three lengthy scenes, each of which will take place backstage before the launch of famous Apple products. These are said to be the Mac, NeXT and, of course, the iPod.
