Lee Pace Ronan

Some new promo art for Marvel Studios and James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy offers up a great look at each of the main cast members, but perhaps the most interesting piece is the one which gives us our first real shot of Lee Pace (The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug) as the villainous Ronan the Accuser.

He’ll be Thanos’ henchman in the movie, and while we’ve seen the odd shot of Ronan in the trailers, this full reveal shows off just how imposing the actor will be in Guardians of the Galaxy.

The other images focus on the heroic team consisting of Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista), Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel).

With the San Diego Comic-Con just around the corner and around five weeks to go until the release of Guardians of the Galaxy in cinemas, expect Marvel to start ramping up promotion for what many have claimed is their riskiest movie yet. As always, stay tuned to HeyUGuys for all the latest Marvel news!

From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team—the Guardians of the Galaxy. An action-packed, epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the entire universe. To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits—Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer. But when Quill discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand—with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro, Guardians of the Galaxy is set to be released on August 1st in the US and July 31st in the UK.
