With production now underway on Deadpool, the first official image of Ryan Reynolds suited up as the fan favourite X-Men character has today been revealed (via Twitter) by the actor and 20th Century Fox.

Based upon Marvel Comics’ most unconventional anti-hero, Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.

Joining Reynolds are Morena Baccarin as Copycat, T.J. Miller as Weasel, and Gina Carano as Angel Dust.

To say that the character looks like he’s been torn straight from the pages of the comic books would be an understatement! There’s still no word on whether or not Deadpool will be R-Rated, but it’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases of next year (just as much as Batman v Superman and Civil War).

Written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, Deadpool is directed by Tim Miller and set to be released on February 12th, 2016. Which characters do we want to see in Deadpool? Find that out by clicking here.
