Bill Murray’s reluctance to reprise his Ghostbusters role is a big part of why the long rumoured Ghostbusters III never happened, but the legendary actor has clearly out his doubts to one side. According to The Hollywood Reporter, he’ll cameo in the reboot!

Directed by Paul Feig, this new movie will focus on  Patty Tolan (Leslie Jones), Abby Yates (Melissa McCarthy), Erin Gilbert (Kristen Wiig), and Jillian Holtzmann (Kate McKinnon).

Murray played  Dr. Peter Venkman in Ghostbusters (1984) and Ghostbusters II (1989)/

An unofficial plot synopsis for Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters claims that Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig then reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.

Ghostbusters is set to be released on July 22nd, 2016. The cast also includes Chris Hemsworth (as the team’s secretary), Andy Garcia, Michael K. Williams, Matt Walsh, and Neil Casey as the reboot’s lead villain. Here’s hoping more original cast members cameo!
