It’s a well-known fact that Marvel likes to sign up the actors who work for them for as many movies as possible, but what Warner Bros. has planned for those they’ve cast in their DC Extended Universe isn’t quite as clear. However, it seems Ben Affleck is going to break records by playing Batman more times over the next few years than any other actor.

According to a new report (and this isn’t official just yet, so take it with a pinch of salt for now), Warner Bros. has offered the Gone Girl star the chance to star in direct in an additional two Batman movies. He’s currently working on the first alongside writer Geoff Johns.

This makes sense, especially as there have been other reports today that both The Accountant and Live By Night have been delayed, likely because Affleck needs to go and shoot Justice League Part One and Two early next year for director Zack Snyder.

If the actor really has agreed to direct and star in an entire trilogy of Batman movies, he’ll end up playing the Dark Knight an amazing seven times over the next few years. Affleck will first appear in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice next year, later making a cameo appearance in Suicide Squad, before Justice League and of course The Batman.

You have to believe that Batman will factor into future Justice League 3 and 4 too if they happen, so chances are that we’ll be seeing Batfleck on the big screen for years to come…
