Steven Spielberg’s anticipated biopic, Lincoln, premiered to very strong early reviews at NYFF earlier in the month, and will be entering the Oscar race in a big way when it lands in theatres next weekend.

Daniel Day-Lewis takes the lead as the eponymous American President, with critics already praising his power-house performance. With the film’s US release now very much on the horizon, three new TV spots have debuted online, giving us another great look at the film.

“Steven Spielberg directs two-time Academy Award® winner Daniel Day-Lewis in “Lincoln,” a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th President’s tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come.”

Starring alongside the presidential lead will be Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Sally Field, John Hawkes, Jared Harris, Jackie Earle Haley, James Spader, Lee Pace, David Oyelowo, and David Straithairn.

Spielberg is directing from a script by the Oscar-nominated Tony Kushner (Munich), who adapts the original book, Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln, by Doris Kearns Goodwin.

Lincoln will be given a limited US release next Friday, 9th November, before going wide the following weekend on 16th November. Here in the UK, we’ve a little longer to wait, with the film set for 25th January, but you can be sure this will be a film worth waiting for. Here are the brilliant new TV spots to tie you over whilst we wait.
