Following a film so uniformly praised as The Great Beauty may be hard for most directors but Paolo Sorrentino has returned to London with another sterling tale of regret and retrospective. Youth had its LFF Gala Premiere this evening.
Sorrentino’s film, which we reviewed at its premiere in Cannes, has a fine cast with Michael Caine and Harvey Keitel leading as a composer and a film director respectively, who meet at a luxury spa and strike up a strange twilight years friendship. Jane Fonda, Rachel Weisz and Paul Dano are in support.
