Taylor Sheridan, the man who penned the brilliance within Hell or High Water and Sicario, is all set to make his directorial debut with Wind River, a tension-filled thriller which met with rave reviews when it premiered at Sundance. Now we mere mortals can get a glimpse of the project in the newly released trailer below.
Also written by Sheridan, Wind River stars Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Age of Ultron duo, Jeremy Renner who portrays a local game tracker in Wyoming and Elisabeth Olsen as an FBI agent assigned to the case to find a murderer on a Native American reservation.
The trailer is extremely effective in tension building within a beautiful snowy landscape; the main reason behind its effecting projection comes from the soundtrack which is scored by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
Beginning with a young girl running across a vast snowy landscape and making the obvious fall you would expect from someone who is about to be murdered, her scream rattles out and the next thing we witness is Renner discovering her body. The rest of the trailer see’s both Renner and Olsen on the hunt for the suspect, guns in tow, finally leading to a thrilling standoff.
Wind River will hit UK cinemas September 8th
