To mark the release of The Witch on 18th July, we’ve been given 5 copies to give away on Blu-ray.
THE WITCH is an unnerving tale drawing from actual historical accounts of witchcraft, written and directed by the winner of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival Directing Award, Robert Eggers. The film features haunting and poignant performances from Ralph Ineson (Prey, Game of Thrones) as the family’s prideful and intensely religious patriarch William and Kate Dickie (Filth, Game of Thrones) as William’s zealous God-fearing wife Katherine. Newcomer Anya Taylor-Joy stars as the eldest daughter Thomasin and Harvey Scrimshaw plays her loyal but curious younger brother Caleb. Ellie Grainger and Lucas Dawson play the haunting twins Mercy and Jonas.
New England, 1630: After being banished from his community, a Puritan farmer leaves his colonial plantation, relocating his wife and five children to a remote plot of land on the edge of an ominous forest. Strange and unsettling things begin to happen almost immediately; animals turn malevolent, crops fail, and one child disappears as another becomes seemingly possessed by an evil spirit. With suspicion and paranoia mounting, family members accuse Thomasin of witchcraft, charges she adamantly denies. As circumstances grow more treacherous, each family member’s faith, loyalty and love become tested in shocking and unforgettable ways.
