Searchlight Pictures has released the first trailer for ‘Wild Horse Nine,’ the latest darkly comic drama from Academy Award® winner Martin McDonagh. Set against a backdrop of political tension and volcanic beauty, the film blends espionage, morality, and human connection into a slow-burning powder keg.
Set shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, the story follows CIA operatives Chris and Lee, played by John Malkovich and Sam Rockwell. Dispatched from Santiago to the remote and mysterious Easter Island by their superior MJ, portrayed by Steve Buscemi, the pair find themselves navigating more than just a covert assignment.
Amid the towering Moai statues and the island’s eerie stillness, long-buried secrets begin to surface. Their mission spirals into uncertainty as Chris forms an unexpected bond with two defiant students, played by Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas. What begins as routine quickly fractures into something far more dangerous, threatening to unravel alliances and ignite consequences none of them can control.
The ensemble cast also features Tom Waits and Parker Posey.
