Searchlight Pictures has released a new official trailer for ‘Wild Horse Nine,’ the upcoming film from Academy Award-winning filmmaker Martin McDonagh.
Set shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, the film follows CIA agents Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell), who are dispatched from Santiago to the remote Easter Island by their bureau chief, MJ (Steve Buscemi).
Surrounded by the island’s iconic statues, the longtime partners find themselves wrestling with dark pasts and a growing web of conspiracies. Chris’s unexpected bond with two rebellious students, played by Mariana Di Girolamo and Ailín Salas, threatens to send the agents’ seemingly idyllic trip to paradise spectacularly sideways.
McDonagh directs ‘Wild Horse Nine’ from his own screenplay. The film stars two-time Academy Award nominee John Malkovich (Places in the Heart, In the Line of Fire), Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell (Fosse/Verdon, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Vice), Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Ghost World), Mariana Di Girolamo (Ema, Kill the Jockey) and Ailín Salas (El Secreto, Monzón).
The supporting cast also includes Tom Waits, who previously worked with McDonagh on ‘Seven Psychopaths,’ and Parker Posey, known for ‘The White Lotus.’
