Lionsgate has dropped the official teaser trailer for ‘Wasteman,’ the highly anticipated directorial debut from Cal McMau. This gripping, claustrophobic prison thriller promises to be one of the most intense British films of 2026.

The film follows Taylor (Jonsson), a convict nearing the end of his sentence and desperate to rebuild a relationship with the son who’s grown up without him. But just as parole — and freedom — are within reach, a new cellmate, Dee (Blyth), upends Taylor’s fragile peace. Ruthlessly violent and unpredictable, Dee drags Taylor into a brutal world of inmate rivalries and survival games that could destroy his final chance at redemption.

Premiering to acclaim at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6 and soon to make its UK debut at the 69th BFI London Film Festival as part of the Thrill Strand on October 16, ‘Wasteman’ is already generating strong buzz for its unflinching realism and powerhouse performances from rising stars David Jonsson (Rye Lane, Industry) and Tom Blyth (The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes).
