Tom Cruise has landed in London and following completion of his upcoming Oblivion for Joseph Kosinski, due out in April next year, is already moving quickly on his next project.

Warner Bros. have officially given the green light to Doug Liman’s All You Need IS Kill, the adaptation of the original novel of the same name by Hiroshi Sakurazaka.

The brilliant Emily Blunt (The Adjustment Bureau, the upcoming Looper) will be starring alongside Cruise.

Courtesy of Waterstones, here’s the original novel’s synopsis:

“When the alien Gitai invade, Keiji Kiriya is just one of many raw recruits shoved into a suit of battle armour and sent out to kill. Keiji dies on the battlefield, only to find himself reborn each morning to fight and die again and again. On the 158th iteration though, he sees something different, something out of place: the female soldier known as the Bitch of War. Is the Bitch the key to Keiji’s escape, or to his final death?”

Liman (The Bourne Identity) is directing from a script by Dante Harper (the upcoming Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters), and is set to reunite once more with the brilliant composer, John Powell, whose credits include the likes of Jumper, Hancock, Kung Fu Panda, and The Bourne Identity.

No word yet on when we can look forward to All You Need Is Kill on the big screen, but with Cruise starting on prep last Friday, hopefully the project will be before cameras in the next few weeks or months. More as we get it.
