Russian fantasy export Timur Bekmambetov has been chatting to Empire about his future plans.

He lists many potential projects (included a long in gestation sequel to Wanted) but the one he’s currently moving forward on is the intriguing titled Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter, which come from a novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, the author of the similar genre twisting Pride and Prejudice and Zombies (also currently in the process of being adapted into a film).

The novel Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter is written as a series of documents, presented as an alternative biography of the 16th President, based on the premise that he maintained “secret diaries” upon learning from his father Thomas Lincoln that vampires were in fact real creatures.

Bekmambetov is promising that the film will be a “very entertaining, epic history lesson for millions and millions of teenagers. If you remember Nightwatch, it is maybe in the vein of that kind of movie.”

I hope kids don’t take it too literally, but this does sound like a fun and unique project.
