Has the Underworld horse been flogged to death? It seems to be following the trail of Resident Evil by ticking along in an unsurprising but inoffensive manner, throwing in a hefty dose of 3D to keep audiences coming into theatres.

I caught the first instalment many years back but have not been back for more. In truth I cannot remember much if anything about the first instalment, though the trailer for the fourth film, Awakening, does not seem to require any background knowledge, giving us instead lots of guns, kicking and plummeting from a great height.

For many that will be no bad thing, for others there is a notable and troubling absence of The Rock, who seems to now be the go to guy for refreshing moribund action franchises. For now, if this is your bag, we have a bunch of crisp stills from the film, showcasing contact lenses, gunplay, spandex and middle-distance glowering. Enjoy.

Dave has been writing for HeyUGuys since mid-2010 and has found them to be the most intelligent, friendly, erudite and insightful bunch of film fans you could hope to work with. He's gone from ham-fisted attempts at writing the news to interviewing Lawrence Bender, Renny Harlin and Julian Glover, to writing articles about things he loves that people have actually read. He has fairly broad tastes as far as films are concerned, though given the choice he's likely to go for Con Air over Battleship Potemkin most days. He's pretty sure that 2001: A Space Odyssey is the most overrated mess in cinematic history.
