The table is set once more, and this time the flavours run even deeper. National Geographic has unveiled the first look trailer for the highly anticipated second season of ‘Tucci in Italy,’ the Emmy®-nominated series that blends travel, history, and cuisine.
At the heart of it all is Stanley Tucci, the Academy Award® nominee and Emmy®- and Golden Globe®-winning actor, who returns to his ancestral homeland with curiosity sharpened and appetite fully engaged. Season 2 promises a more intimate and personal exploration, as Tucci journeys beyond postcard Italy into the soulful kitchens and stories that define its regions.
This season, Tucci travels through five distinct regions: Naples and Campania, Sicily, Le Marche, Sardinia, and Veneto. Each destination unfolds like a chapter in a living cookbook, revealing how Italy’s historical landscapes have shaped its culinary identity, where shared meals are less about sustenance and more about storytelling.
A standout stop is Le Marche, a lesser-known gem along the Adriatic coast that Tucci has never explored before. Here, culinary traditions have quietly thrived away from the global spotlight, offering a rare taste of Italy untouched by mass tourism. In Campania, anchored by the vibrant city of Naples, Tucci celebrates the revival of a once-forgotten vine grape, while in Veneto, he dives fork-first into the spirited debate surrounding the true origins of tiramisu.
The journey also stretches across two contrasting islands. In Sardinia, Tucci investigates the fascinating link between food and longevity, uncovering dietary secrets tied to the island’s famously long-lived population. Meanwhile, Sicily serves up a bold tapestry of flavours shaped by centuries of multicultural influence, each dish echoing a layered past.
