Apple TV has released the official trailer for the fifth season of its acclaimed comedy series ‘Trying,’ offering fans a first look at the next chapter in Nikki and Jason’s ever-evolving family journey.
The beloved comedy returns with BAFTA Award nominee Esther Smith and Actor Award nominee Rafe Spall reprising their roles as Nikki and Jason, while also serving as executive producers on the series. The upcoming season promises fresh emotional challenges, family drama and the signature warmth.
Season five picks up with Nikki and Jason enjoying a relatively settled family life as they continue raising Princess and Tyler. However, their hard-earned stability is thrown into turmoil when the children’s biological mother, Kat, unexpectedly arrives at their doorstep.
Portrayed by Charlotte Riley, Kat’s sudden reappearance introduces a whirlwind of uncertainty and emotional complexity into the family dynamic. As Nikki and Jason navigate the consequences of her return, they must once again confront questions about parenthood, identity and what it truly means to be a family.
Season five reunites viewers with the show’s ensemble cast, including Esther Smith as Nikki, Rafe Spall as Jason, Scarlett Rayner as Princess, Cooper Turner as Tyler, Charlotte Riley as Kat, Darren Boyd, Siân Brooke, Celia Imrie, Phil Davis, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Colin Morgan.

The eight-episode fifth season of ‘Trying’ will premiere globally on Apple TV on Wednesday, July 8.
Following the premiere, new episodes will be released weekly, with the season finale arriving on Wednesday, August 26.
