Jack-Reynor-Mark-Wahlberg-and-Michael-Bay-on-set-of-Transformers-4Of the many, many blockbusters due to hit screens next summer, Transformers 4 is, without a doubt, one of the biggest.

Having got the green light from Paramount to helm this year’s hit, Pain & Gain, Michael Bay has in turn returned to the helm for the fourth instalment in the franchise, and he’s assembled a stellar new cast to do it with.

Mark Wahlberg is reuniting with his Pain & Gain helmer for the upcoming Transformers 4, and Bay took to his site last week to share the first official photo from the set, sharing a glimpse at Wahlberg alongside co-star Jack Reynor and a handful of the crew, including Bay himself.

Little is known about the plot, but it is known that the sequel will take place four years on from the events of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, and that it will be the launching point for a new trilogy.

A quick glance at Wahlberg’s career will of course note that he’s not typically one for franchises – the upcoming Ted 2, set for April 2015, will be his first sequel to date – and it would be a welcome change to see him return for Transformers 5 and 6.

Wahlberg and Reynor are joined by Nicola Peltz, Kelsey Grammer, Stanley Tucci, Sophia Myles, Li Bingbing, Titus Welliver, and T.J. Miller, all of which should make for a very cool new cast.

And Bay is directing from a script penned by Ehren Kruger (Transformers: Dark of the Moon), with Lorenzo di Bonaventura producing once more, and Steve Jablonsky set to score another epic soundtrack.

The as-yet-untitled Transformers 4 will hit cinemas on June 27th, 2014, and is very much likely to be one of the biggest movies of next year.
