Netflix has debuted the evocative first trailer for ‘Train Dreams,’ the adaptation of Denis Johnson’s celebrated novella. Directed by Clint Bentley (Jockey), from a script co-written with longtime collaborator Greg Kwedar, the film stars Joel Edgerton as Robert Grainier — a logger and railroad worker whose quiet, rugged life unfolds against the vast and shifting landscape of early 20th-century America.
Set in an era of immense transformation, ‘Train Dreams’ captures the soul of a man bound to the wilderness and the rails, as modernity and memory collide. Through Edgerton’s deeply introspective performance, the film paints a portrait of solitude, resilience, and the unspoken poetry of the working man.
Joining Edgerton in the cast are Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), and William H. Macy (Fargo), rounding out an ensemble that brings Johnson’s lyrical vision to life with quiet grace and emotional power.
Following its acclaimed world premiere at Sundance and international debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, ‘Train Dreams’ continues its prestigious festival run at the BFI London Film Festival.
