Currently crushing the box office competition The Hunger Games has pushed its young star to the fore and the legion of Jennifer Lawrence fans can now see what’s she’s up to next with the first trailer for House at the End of the Street.

Mark Tonderai’s film takes a story from the pen of director Jonathan Mostow, of Terminator 3 and Surrogates fame, and serves up what looks to be a twist on the familiar tale of a family who move into a house and things go badly wrong. In this case it turns out the house next door was the scene of a brutal murder, the only survivor of which still lives there. If it sounds a little like Dream House then you’ll have anticipated the connection – the screenplay for each was written by David Loucka.

Dream House was at least a slightly different take on this oft-told tale (before surrendering like an errant child caught flicking lit matches from a treehouse) and perhaps we’ll see something to surprise us here. With The Woman in Black, The Awakening and the remake of Silent House there’s clearly life (or money to be made) in the old haunted house yet.

MTV had it, but they nail down their video content to US soil so we’ve had to scour the good sea YouTube.
