I remember when the first trailer for Mortal Kombat came out and it was exactly what I was looking for. All the characters from the game were present, it looked decidedly cheesy and there was lots of kicking – everything you need for a successful beat-em-up video game’s move to the big screen.

Now, thanks to Teaser-Trailer (via Firstshowing) we’ve got a first look at Tekken, Namco’s fighting game series, brought to generic life by director Dwight H. Little and the screenwriter Alan B. McElroy and it’s exactly what we should have expected. Actually it looks a little too much like the game, but fans will lap this up and if Uwe Boll and Paul W.S. Anderson don’t destroy this video game adaptation market then we may see a ton of sequels.

Enjoy the trailer, and I’ve embedded the original Mortal Kombat trailer as well, just for kicks.
