Road trip movies are a Hollywood tradition. As soon as automobiles were introduced to the world, there were movies about people travelling in them discovering the land, and themselves. Because of this, there are a lot of stories of journeys that have not gone entirely to plan, spanning the genres, from comedy to thriller.
There are a lot of lessons we can learn from watching movie road trips, and here are ten very important ones.
10. Don’t let greed get the better of you. (It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World)
You know what it’s like. You’re driving across state, minding your own business. Then someone has a car accident, and with their dying breath they tell you about some buried treasure. In It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World, it’s a whole group of people who are told the tale.
Despite an agreement not to seek the treasure, they all race off trying to find this legendary haul, in turns competing and co-operating, fuelled by gasoline and greed. More people become involved, including the police and a shady detective, until the mad dash for wealth results in grave danger and near tragedy.
