Here’s something that I was never expecting to say…. Jerry Bruckheimer is looking at reviving the Top Gun franchise. Bruckheimer was the producer of the 1986 movie which jet planed Tom Cruise into the mainstream and made him the man he is today…. and still no apology! 🙂

Bruckheimer has told MTV during the junket for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice that a sequel to the movie was talked about way back when with his producer partner, Don Simpson but a story could never be found worthy of a sequel, but it seems that someone is working on reviving the movie which had the eightyest of soundtracks ever created! Playing with the Boys, Mighty Wings, Danger Zone, how could these ever be beaten!

“We tried to develop [a sequel] and we couldn’t do it– I was with my partner Don Simpson,” Bruckheimer explained. “And then Tom took it over and he tried to develop something and it never quite happened.” That’s all in the past though. It turns out that “Top Gun” has been the subject of much more recent sequel discussions as well.

“We were recently approached again to start talking about it but, you know, nothing yet,” he continued. “We kicked around some ideas because the aviation community has completely changed since we made the movie a long time ago. So we have to find a way in and how to incorporate the Maverick character into it.”

Obviously we’ll bring you more on this as soon as we find out anything further but what do you think to a sequel? Let us know in the comments below.
