Snow White and the Huntsman is based on a script by Evan Daugherty and finds the huntsman (Hardy) being hired by the evil queen to track down her runaway stepdaughter, the fairest in all the land. When he realizes that the queen intends to kill Snow White, he helps her escape, and the pair go on the run.

Hardy is reportedly eyeing the lead role of the titular huntsman in the project recently acquired by Universal. It’s been suggested that the studio are soliciting with Angelina Jolie in the hope she’ll play Ravenna, the evil queen.

In demand after his runaway performance in Christopher Nolan’s Inception, Hardy already has a number of projects in the offing, including a lead role in This Means War, a small role in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and an unspecified role in the hotly-anticipated sequel to The Dark Knight.

Snow White and the Huntsman sounds like an intriguing concept and could, if done properly, be the film everyone expected Tim Burton’s re-working of Alice In Wonderland to be.
