To celebrate the release of the King Gary Christmas Special, we had the pleasure of sitting down with its star and co-creator Tom Davis to chat all things festive and the outlook for 2021.

One of the shining lights of BBC’s comedy treats over the last couple of years, King Gary follows the trials and tribulations of family man Gary King and his wife Terri as they aspire to achieve success in competitive suburbia – and impress Gary’s dad Big Gary. Now, after two seasons, the show joins an elite and very special club by having its own anticipated festive special.

Chatting to Davis, we spoke about the show’s success and the unique pressures that come from it, how they planned the special under the strict new COVID guidelines – especially filming on real streets – and why, now more than ever, the show’s focus on the suburbs and the lives of those around them is perhaps even more important now given how 2020 panned out.
