The geek dream duo of J.J. Abrams and Steven Spielberg, directing and producing respectively, ensures that Super 8 will have a substantial automatic audience.

Add to that those coasting in on the sci-fi nostalgia vibe and the film is almost guaranteed a decent box office, and if I was sitting at home with no clue or idea about this film and I saw the TV spot we’ve got our hands on, I’d be sold, such is the marketing prowess of Abrams and his team. Essentially this spot is a minute long tease and when the film hits in the height of summer it’ll have a lot of expectation to fulfill.

The 70s set film stars Kyle Chandler, Elle Fanning, Noah Emmerich, Ron Eldard, Amanda Michalka, Zach Mills and Gabriel Basso and has this as a synopsis.

In the summer of 1979, a group of friends in a small Ohio town witness a catastrophic train crash while making a super 8 movie and soon suspect that it was not an accident. Shortly after, unusual disappearances and inexplicable events begin to take place in town, and the local Deputy tries to uncover the truth – something more terrifying than any of them could have imagined.
