The-Way-Way-Back-Quad-PosterWith The Way, Way Back, the Oscar-winning co-writers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash make their feature directorial debuts, and if the early reviews out of Sundance are anything to go by, it’s sure to be one of the best films of the year.

The comedy is opening in the US this weekend, before heading across the Atlantic at the end of next month. And to help make the wait here in the UK that little bit easier, Fox have released a new UK trailer, along with the hi-res versions of the film’s posters for our shores.

Written and directed by the Oscar winning writers of THE DESCENDANTS, THE WAY, WAY BACK is the funny and poignant coming of age story of 14-year-old Duncan’s (Liam James) summer vacation with his mother, Pam (Toni Collette), her overbearing boyfriend, Trent (Steve Carell), and his daughter, Steph (Zoe Levin). Having a rough time fitting in, Duncan finds an unexpected friend in Owen (Sam Rockwell), the carefree manager of the Water Wizz water park. Through his friendship with Owen, Duncan slowly opens up and begins to finally find his place in the world – all during a summer that will change his life.

Steve Carell and Sam Rockwell lead an all-star cast, alongside Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Annasophia Robb, Maya Rudolph, Rob Corddry, Amanda Peet, and Liam James.

Faxon and Rash are directing from a script they co-wrote, with the two also serving as executive producers on the film.

The Way, Way Back will begin its limited release in the US this Friday, July 5th. If you’re reading this in the States, then you can head over to the film’s site to find out about how you can attend a free screening (for those not already sold out). Here in the UK, we’ve a while longer to wait, with its release date set for 28th August, but it certainly looks like it should be well worth the wait. Here’s the latest trailer, and the new posters, to tie you over.
