The beloved sea sponge is back and heading on another laugh-out-loud, visually bonkers journey in the brand-new trailer for The SpongeBob Movie: Search for Squarepants.
Premiering today, the trailer gives fans their first look at Bikini Bottom’s latest crisis: SpongeBob’s iconic square pants have mysteriously vanished — and so begins the most absorbent, sponge-worthy quest of his life.
From the zany minds behind Sponge on the Run, the new film delves even deeper into animated absurdity, combining dazzling CG animation with classic slapstick, surreal set pieces, and plenty of Easter eggs for longtime fans. With his trusty snail, Gary, best friend Patrick Star, and a reluctant Squidward in tow, SpongeBob embarks on a trans-oceanic mission that takes him through bizarre underwater realms, fashionable deep-sea boutiques, and even a parallel universe where round pants reign supreme.
The trailer teases a host of celebrity cameos, a catchy new original song, and what might be the weirdest villain yet — an ultra-chic fashion mogul octopus voiced by an A-list surprise star, obsessed with reclaiming SpongeBob’s pants for his own nefarious runway.
Directed by Derek Drymon, the cast includes Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, Mr. Lawrence, George Lopez, Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola with Regina Hall and Mark Hamill.
