Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for ‘The Social Reckoning,’ the upcoming drama from Oscar-winning writer and director Aaron Sorkin that explores the whistleblower whose revelations helped ignite the social media reckoning still unfolding today.
Inspired by true events, ‘The Social Reckoning’ serves as a companion piece to Sorkin’s acclaimed 2010 film ‘The Social Network’. At its centre is Frances Haugen, played by Mikey Madison, a young Facebook engineer who becomes increasingly troubled by the company’s most closely guarded secrets.
After deciding to expose what she knows, Haugen enlists the help of Wall Street Journal reporter Jeff Horwitz, played by Jeremy Allen White. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to bring the truth to light, setting in motion a David and Goliath battle against one of the world’s most powerful social media companies.
Sorkin, who wrote the screenplay for ‘The Social Network’ and won an Academy Award for the film, returns as both writer and director for ‘The Social Reckoning.’ Joining Madison and White are Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong.
