Peter Weir may not be a director you’re initially familiar with but if I tell you that he’s been at the helm of movies like Gallipoli, Witness, The Mosquito Coast, Dead Poets Society, The Truman Show and Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, you start to realise that he’s a Hollywood Heavyweight who has made some absolutely beautiful masterpieces.
His latest is a movie called The Way Back. We saw the first trailer for the movie a little while ago and it stars Colin Farrell, Mark Strong, Saoirse Ronan, Jim Sturgess, Yordan Bikov and Dejan Angelov.
Synopsis: Chronicles the escape of a small group of multi-national prisoners from a Siberian gulag in 1940 and their epic life affirming journey over thousands of miles across five hostile countries.
It’s set for release in the UK 26th December and after watching both these trailers, I can’t wait to see it!
