Following on from Yellowstone is no easy task, but Taylor Sheridan has delivered with aplomb. To mark the release of The Madison, on Paramount+ – we had the pleasure in speaking to several members of the cast, including the legendary actor Kurt Russell. Our second interview is with Beau Garrett, Elle Chapman & Patrick J. Adams.
Russell explains why he believes this may be the writer’s best work yet, discussing what makes Sheridan’s writing so unique, how the characters feel incredibly real for actors to perform, and why this role connected to him more personally than almost anything he has played before. Russell also opens up about moving to Colorado in his twenties to live a life closer to nature — hunting, fishing and ranching — and how those experiences helped shape his character in Madison. He also discusses the powerful themes explored in the show, and how Madison stands apart while still capturing the spirit of the Yellowstone Universe storytelling fans love.
Meanwhile the trip also share what it was like filming in the stunning landscapes of Montana, how living and working together helped shape their on-screen family dynamic, and why this project felt like a “once in a lifetime” experience for everyone involved. They also reveal how the presence of Michelle Pfeiffer helped set the tone on set, inspiring the entire cast and crew to bring their best to every scene. Watch both interviews in their entirety below.
