LEGO-Comic-Con-PosterThe special has arisen, and his name is Emmet. The Lego Movie will be hitting cinemas at the start of February next year, and if the first trailer is anything to go by, it should be pretty awesome.

Warner Bros. is set to launch the new trailer in three days. And to keep us hooked until later in the week, they’ve debuted a new preview, introducing us to our hero, Emmet.

The original 3D computer animated story follows Emmet, an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average LEGO minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant, a journey for which Emmet is hopelessly and hilariously underprepared.

Chris Pratt takes the lead, lending his vocal talents as Emmet, and he’s joined by a fantastic voice cast, led by Will Arnett, Elizabeth Banks, Will Ferrell, Morgan Freeman, Liam Neeson, Alison Brie, and Nick Offerman.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the directing duo behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs and 21 Jump Street, are at the helm for their second animated feature, with a script they co-wrote, based on a story they wrote with Dan and Kevin Hageman (Hotel Transylvania).

The Lego Movie will be released in the US on February 7th, 2014, with its UK release date coming a week later in time for Valentine’s Day on 14th February. Be sure to come back for the full trailer when it lands in three days’ time.
