If you’re familiar with the Underworld series, the risible Van Helsing, or the more recent I, Frankenstein, you’ll know the territory we’re approaching well.

Modern gothic films have often eschewed the eerie sense of dread for a more visceral take on the supernatural and tonight Vin Diesel steps into the arena with The Last Witch Hunter.

The storyline is quite an engaging one. Witches are real, want to unleash plague on the world and are only stopped by a legion of Witch Hunters. The Queen of the Witches is killed, but curses her slayer with immortality – whip forward in time to now and all the witches are gone, and their immortal slayer remains. That’s Mr. Diesel..

Directed by Breck Eisner the film is led by Diesel with the nicely eclectic cast of Rose Leslie, Elijah Wood, and the legend that is Michael Caine.

The film had its premiere this evening in London, it launches itself into UK cinemas on the 21st of October.

Here’s how our tireless red carpeteers Cassam Looch and Colin Hart got on this evening.
